Airbus & Uber partnership to offer helicopter taxi service
Frustrated travellers keen to rise above it all will soon have a new mode of transport available at their fingertips after taxi service Uber announced it will partner with aircraft manufacturer Airbus to offer an on-demand helicopter pick-up service.
What’s more, Airbus chief Tom Enders divulged that the taxi service for high fliers could be in the air within a matter of weeks although the cost of a fare is likely to be as high as the ride – at least initially.
Uber has form in the helicopter taxi business having previously offered an on-demand aerial chaperone to delegates at Cannes and the CES as well as sports fans keen to arrive at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in style – with passengers coughing up £400 for the privilege.
Anyone who has the Uber app will be able to choose the helicopter option in app wherever Airbus have a chopper in range.
