Gary Lineker's brother tweets Sun reporter's DMs to claim divorce coverage was a 'stitch-up'
The brother of former England star and Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker has blasted the Sun’s investigations into the recent split of Gary and his wife Danielle Bux on Twitter.
Wayne Lineker took to the social network to reveal the how a Sun reporter pursued him for a quote on his brother's divorce after he last year told the publication: "In my opinion Danielle cost me my relationship with my brother.”
The reporter offered to attribute any quotes from Wayne as off-the-record and payment was offered however, Lineker stated that he did not want to repeat “what happened last time”.
She then claimed she was travelling to meet him for a face-to-face but Lineker turned down the opportunity.
A piece on the divorce ran on Wednesday in the Sun claiming the "pundit’s family is ‘glad she’s going’." The headline was backed by an anonymous source who claimed: "Danielle changed Gary for the worse. He seemed to choose her over his family. He became distant and started to care about his appearance more."
Additionally, the reporter made good on her threat to re-use Wayne's old quote on Gary and Danielle’s relationship – as he failed to provide an update.
Lineker captured the whole conversation and shared it on Twitter, scroll through it below.

In the tweet he said he's been stitched up by the newspaper.
Contrary to what people may think I have been clearly stitched up by @TheSun https://t.co/MX3feRP1Fl #NoCommentMade pic.twitter.com/IsOpLXwvM2

Members of the family condemned the story on Twitter.
Not sure how they can lie and twist something so much, Dan was amazing and I got on very well with her such a shame https://t.co/AxHZMzMEX7

If a family member was ever joyous about a situation like this, they wouldn't be a much valued member of the family.
