RIP David Cameron was the message broadcast to listeners of Scottish radio channel Heart FM Radio on Monday morning in a heart-in-mouth gaffe from presenter Fiona Winchester.

Prime minister David Cameron, who was on Sunday branded as a ‘pie’ by leader of the opposition Jeremy Corbyn’s hacked Twitter account, was accidentally name-dropped in the newscast in place of music legend David Bowie who passed away on Sunday after an 18 month battle with cancer.

Presenter Wincester announced: “David Cameron has died... David Bowie, I mean David Bowie."

Social media users were quick to pick up the false announcement, others were too busy dancing in the street at the news.

David Cameron tweeted about the death of Bowie too.

The gaffe comes after rock band Squeeze played an alternative version of ‘Cradle To The Grave’ live on the Andrew Marr show changed lyrics to accuse David Cameron was “hellbent on the destruction of the Welfare State” on Sunday.

Fans and prominent individuals across the globe reacted to the news in sadness on social media over the last 12 hours.
