HomeAway joins Uefa 2016 as official accommodation provider for travelling fans

Uefa has inked online holiday rental company, HomeAway, as Uefa Euro 2016’s as a national sponsor and the official fans’ accommodation service for the tournament in France this summer.

In preparation for supporting the European championships, which will run from 10 June until 10 July, HomeAway will grow its inventory of holiday rentals listings in all of the ten host cities in France in order to offer football fans the option to stay in a house or apartment during the busy summer period.

The rental company’s French brand, Abritel, has also announced that as part of the sponsorship it will launch a dedicated microsite specifically for the Euros which will list the properties available in all the tournament hosting cities.

Guy-Laurent Epstein, managing director, marketing, Uefa events SA said he was “excited to partner with a company with digital expertise at its heart and a leader in its field".

He added that HomeAway’s “huge network of properties in France and online strength” would make a huge difference for traveling fans.

HomeAway’s chief marketing officer, Mariano Dima, said that “more than 70 per cent of travelers we polled throughout Europe say they’d prefer to stay in accommodations that offer privacy when on vacation”.

He also highlighted that its” inventory of more than 170 000 entire properties throughout France provides the perfect solution for fans from all over".

The company says it will also run a campaign to encourage new owners to list their properties on the site to help meet the tremendous increase of demand during the event.
