The Ad Council has created a spot in partnership with The Bully Project that shows how social media can actually be a force for good when it comes to bullying.

About a year ago, a young girl named Lexie posted a picture on Facebook of herself holding a sign that read: “I got bullied for wearing glasses! Share if you’re against bullying! #StopBullying”

She reached out to The Bully Project to help spread her message. The post ended up being shared more than three million times and many people sent Lexie messages of encouragement.

In the Ad Council video, Lexie and her mother tell their story and show some of the kind notes Lexie received online.

The goal of the video is to encourage parents to talk to their kids about bullying and how it can be stopped. It will run on TV and online.
