Dentsu Aegis-owned global creative agency mcgarrybowen is expanding its footprint in Asia with the launch of an office in Hong Kong.

The mcgarrybowen Hong Kong office will be led by greater China CEO Simone Tam and chief creative officer Jeffry Gamble (pictured), both of whom had held senior roles at DDB Group Hong Kong.

According to the agency, the need for an office in Hong Kong was led by client needs but the decision was also made because of the increasingly strong talent pool for agencies in the region.

Nick Waters, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network, Asia Pacific, said: “The launch of mcgarrybowen in Hong Kong is the extension of our strategy to develop the agency in Asia with high quality talent and in strategic cities. We aim to build on Simone and Jeffry’s strong knowledge of the Hong Kong market and, adding to the agency’s Shanghai and Singapore operations, seek to create regional opportunities.”

Dentsu Aegis is using the mcgarrybowen business to build the network’s creative capabilities globally. In partner with its parent company, mcgarrybowen bought Paris-based luxury agency Same Same But Different last month, broadening its luxury expertise globally thanks to it also having offices in New York, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Last year, Denstu Aegis and mcgarrybowen also bought Singapore-based manghamgaxiola, now known as manghamgaxiola mcgarrybowen.
