Richard Reeves is to join the UK Association of Online Publishers (AOP) as managing director.

He will be tasked with raising the profile of industry issues and exploring potential partnerships with fellow international publishing member organisations.

Joining from his consultancy business DigiVibe Media, Reeves has worked in the industry for over 30 years, holding senior roles at international brands including Centaur Communications, Dennis Publishing, News International, and the FT.

As CNN’s first dedicated digital resource outside of the US, he was also responsible for rolling out CNN.com to international markets,

Tim Faircliff, who was named as excecutive chairman of AOP last summer said that Reeves will "bring valuable insights to the role" and lead the "evolution of the AOP" alongside board members.

Reeves commented: “The world of digital publishing is rapidly evolving, and I am looking forward to working with the UK’s premium publishers to raise awareness of industry issues and drive the AOP’s agenda.

"As part of my initial focus, we will be pursuing a dialogue with similar international member organisations such as Digital Content Next (DCN) in the US, to explore potential collaborations," he added.

The organisation's publishing alliance is set to launch in January, with support from Telegraph Media Group, Time Inc. and other partners.
