Tonight, FXX’s acclaimed show,“You’re the Worst,” will finish up its second season with a flurry of excitement. The show has retained its popularity and the network just announced that it has been renewed for a third season, and that creator, Stephen Falk, has also signed a multi-year deal with the network. Before “You’re the Worst,” Falk had written a number of episodes for “Weeds,” and it’s not difficult to see the similarities between the two shows; both are primarily comedies, but both have a dark side and touch on difficult subjects, like depression.

In addition to the show’s stellar writing and acting, it has also undertaken efforts to reach viewers on social media. The show launched a landing page on its Tumblr site, titled “The Worst Greetings,” which is abound with words of “encouragement” from the the show’s two stars, Aya Cash and Chris Geere. Whether you’ve been dumped, fired, or have a hangover, the stars of “You’re the Worst” are ready to help you get back on your feet, according to the network.

The show has also been active on Twitter and Facebook to strike a balance between the show's humor and more serious plotlines. Such a goal can be difficult both within the confines of a TV show and within the marketing of the show, but “You’re the Worst,” seems to do both quite well. It exudes a feeling of accessibility and an unwillingness to take itself too seriously, which both help to give it more credibility when it deals with difficult issues. One of its more humorous tweets is from November 16, which quotes Lindsay (played by Kether Donohue) on her description of Jimmy’s family: “I thought all English people were fancy but these are like Alabama English people.”

The show, like all others on television, also has to deal with the changing ways in which consumers are watching different shows. Found Remote had a chance to ask Aya Cash about those changes. Cash expressed some concern about the effect it could have on whether the show gets a pickup, but also expressed support for watching shows on different mediums. “For me, any way people watch is great and any way people take content. People do it differently and I don’t care if someone is watching live or on a computer.”

As for her own social media usage, Cash does a bit of everything, much like “You’re The Worst.” Cash, however, did have some pointed comments in regards to her time on Instagram, which felt like a fitting description for the show in which she stars. As she explained: “It’s all attraction repulsion on all levels.”
