Athletic retailer Foot Locker has rolled out a new ad starring NBA star Russell Westbrook talking to a fan who aspires to be just like him.

As the two chat, they are interrupted by a number of people including ESPN analyst Jalen Rose, CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, TV host Melissa Rivers and Dr. Phil who tell the young fan that he’ll never be able to be exactly like Westbrook.

At the end, Westbrook tells him that being authentic and staying true to himself is more important anyway.

The ad, created by BBDO NY, promotes the Jordan XX9 low shoe that’s set to launch in Foot Locker’s stores and online on 4 December.

Of the video, the Oklahoma City Thunder player said: "I always have fun working with Foot Locker and Jordan Brand, but this commercial was particularly memorable with so many different people and well-known personalities. This holiday season I want to inspire my fans to stay true to themselves and be who they are."

Westbrook also appears in Mountain Dew’s ads.
