Nick Cannon joins RadioShack as chief creative officer
Actor and musician Nick Cannon is now serving as RadioShack’s chief creative officer.
According to an announcement from the company - which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this year before being rescued by a hedge fund - Cannon is a “lifelong fan” of the retailer and began his relationship with the company “at the age of eight, shortly after inheriting his grandfather’s stereo equipment.”
As chief creative officer, he will be tasked with helping develop exclusive products for the brand while growing its education and STEM initiatives.
Of his new role, Cannon said: "RadioShack is a brand that matters. As a kid, spending time in my neighborhood RadioShack was invaluable. The maker mentality and educational approach taught me a lot and encouraged me to explore my own creativity. In return I wanted to give back by fostering creative pursuits in others, and helping kids move to the next level.”
RadioShack said Cannon will have an office at its headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas.
