Donald Trump turns to Periscope and Facebook to boost presidential hopes
Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump has turned to Twitter-owned social media live video streaming platform Periscope to boost his engagement with voters.
Trump, who has over 160,000 followers on Periscope, and over 5 million on Twitter, sat at his desk from Trump Tower in New York and answered questions from viewers and said that he planned to do the chat regularly on a Wednesday through Facebook as well, but that on this occasion the platform was experiencing "technical difficulties."
He introduced the first 43 minute stream by telling viewers that he hoped they would have "a little fun" as they talked over the "good aspects and the bad aspects" of the world.
He also took the opportunity to promote his new book, Crippled America and spoke about creating borders to protect the country.
