People on the move: Hires and departures at NME, Sky Media, Salesforce and more

This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key hires below.

NME

NME has appointed Charlotte Gunn to the role of digital editor where she will be tasked with the development of digital brand extensions and new product launches.

Following the publication’s recent relaunch as a free weekly mag in September, Gunn will replace outgoing Greg Cochrane to deliver digital growth strategy across mobile, desktop, social and native apps.

Sky Media

Sky Media is to create an international sales team to deliver worldwide campaigns for global and European brands and capitalise on its growing international news distribution.

Bernd Daubenmerkl will head up the division in the new role of director, international sales and partnerships, he joins from Eurosport Media, where he has been managing director since 2006. Based in Munich, he will report to John Litster, managing director, Sky Media UK.

Salesforce

Salesforce has poached Microsoft Dynamics's corporate vice-president Robert Stutz to head up its Analytics Cloud.

Having worked for the computing giant since 2012, Stutz is currently at the helm of its CRM business apps division, but is set to jump ship just before the release of its 2016 suite.

Leo Burnett

Leo Burnett's head of mobile and social, James Kirkham, is leaving the agency.

Kirkham is co-founder of digital agency Holler which was acquired by Leo Burnett in 2011, and has most recently been involved in the reconfiguration of the group into a single multi-disciplinary agency. He is looking for opportunities outside of the industry.

DigitasLBi

DigitasLBi has promoted current client partner Matt Steward to the role of managing director of its UK business.

Formerly of RKCR/Y&R, Steward joined DigitasLBi in March 2015 and has worked across a number of the firm's flagship accounts, heading up its client service offering since his arrival.

In his new role he will continue to report in to Michael Islip, who was took up the position of chief executive of the global marketing agency's UK division earlier this year.

Droga5

Goodby Silverstein & Partners (GS&P) has hired Droga5’s content creative director Mike Long to lead its Comcast/Xfinity account.

While at Droga5, Long helped develop and direct digital content for clients including Diet Coke and Johnsonville. He has also held positions at Saatchi & Saatchi and production company Epoch Films throughout his career.

Gyro

California-based and award winning creator Ronny Northrop is the new executive creative director of Gyro San Francisco office, the company announced today.

Northrop comes to the creative agency from Bay area-based Y & R California.

Bauer Media

Bauer Media has appointed Ryan Skeggs joins as head of programmatic trading and audiences, while Stephane Folquet is to join as digital agency manager.

Skeggs brings a wealth of digital experience to Bauer, joining from the Mail Online where he held the position of programmatic account director.

Folquet will be joining as digital agency manager from talkSPORT where he held the position of print and tablet advertising manager.

Archant Dialogue

Content marketing agency Archant Dialogue has appointed a new commercial director, Tim Kersen, from Mail Brands to develop its client offering and generate new business.

Kersen was previously head of new business across Mail Brands, responsible for business development, creative solutions, marketing and insight, editorial liaison, the creative team and international advertising. Prior to this, he held a number of senior roles across client sales, agency trading and account management.

DataXu

DataXu has promoted Chris Le May to senior vice-president and managing director, Europe and emerging markets.

Previously managing director for the programmatic platform in the UK and Nordics, Le May is now overseeing a larger team and is reporting directly into DataXu’s chief executive in Boston.

Le May is based in London, which is now DataXu’s European headquarters.

Mode Media

Mode Media has tapped Simon Broadhurst as its new UK head of publishing.

He joins from Specific Media where he was publisher services director and will lead Mode’s relationships with publishers and its extensive content creator network of more than 10,000 bloggers and vloggers worldwide.

Havas Creative Group hires Mark Sinnock into newly-created group chief strategy role. Sinnock to bolster Havas Creative Group’s senior leadership as European and UK Group CSO

Havas Creative Group

Havas today announced the appointment of Mark Sinnock as European and UK group chief strategy officer. He joins in early 2016 and will report directly into European and UK group chief executive, Chris Hirst.

Sinnock joins from his position as group chief strategy officer at M&C Saatchi London.

Whistlejacket

London-based agency Whistlejacket has hired Bimal Harry to lead its expansion into Dubai.

Harry has experience working with clients in the region, including spells with DDB Qatar and DDA, as well as long involvement at London agencies like, O&M, Leo Burnett, DDB and Publicis.
