Sky Media to launch new global sales team fronted by Eurosport group boss

Sky Media is to create an international sales team to deliver worldwide campaigns for global and European brands and capitalise on its growing international news distribution.

Bernd Daubenmerkl will head up the division in the new role of director, international sales and partnerships, he joins from Eurosport Media, where he has been managing director since 2006. Based in Munich, he will report to John Litster, managing director, Sky Media UK.

Recruitment for the new team has already begun and it will be based in territories across Europe as well as international markets, including Asia, where Sky is building new client partnerships.

Commenting on the launch, Lister sad: "Sky is an increasingly attractive partner for major international and European brands who want to deliver campaigns across borders."

Daubenmerkl added that the company has already built successful ad sales operations in each its territories, and that his new team would "work closely with them to grow existing client relationships as well as developing new ones".

The advertising arm of the media network's portfolio includes wholly-owned channels and partner channels from broadcasters including Viacom, Discovery and NBC Universal, the company also profits from a growing range of digital inventory including online and mobile assets.
