Yahoo is the latest firm to be hit with a fantasy sports ban in New York City as attorney general Eric Schneiderman looks to combat what he claims is unlicensed online gambling.

The legal battle spearheaded by Schneiderman last week saw cease and desist orders issued to fantasy sports firms FanDuel and DraftKings.

The fantasy sports gaming industry was dubbed by Schneiderman as “nothing more than a rebranding of sports betting,” and Yahoo’s offering is the latest service to be shuttered in the state.

A Yahoo spokesperson told Reuters: "We are monitoring industry trends and events closely and believe that we offer a lawful product for our daily fantasy sports users.”

FanDuel and DraftKings have vowed to fight the ban issued in Tuesday's subpoena, whereas Yahoo's ban was drafted seperately from the legal action.
