As the legalisation of cannabis continues to gain pace across the US a chain of retail stores is set to open up with a design to offer a modern experience to consumers.

The Pineapple Express stores tasked creative concept and design firm The McBride Company with providing a design that creates a welcoming place for consumers to shop quality products at their own pace with access to knowledgeable experts.

To communicate this ethos the design team steered away from a traditional consultation counter, which is commonly used as the central feature in marijuana dispensaries, in favour of a more comfortable retail environment to provide an easier shopping experience before the point of sale.

Matthew Feinstein chief executive, chairman and co-founder of Pineapple Express said: “Pineapple Express is on a mission to modernize the legal cannabis industry. Part of that mission is cultivating a world-class dispensary experience that patients, consumers and operators will not only love, but also trust.

“Leveraging our vast experience in the industry, we sought to address the many setbacks, inefficiencies and outdated technologies present in the current legal dispensary model. The McBride Company took our vision and delivered an ideal shop design that is unique, streamlined and incredibly memorable; we cannot wait to roll out Pineapple Express branded shops as our branding partnerships come to fruition in the future."

Some of the features designed by the agency include four screens to educate customers about the various strains of cannabis for purchase, a View-Master station displaying content about Pineapple Express, which offers customers a way to learn more about the shop and stay entertained while waiting to speak with a sales associate and an edibles counter to creatively display marijuana edibles in a bakery-like display case.
