Newspapers across Europe have reacted to the terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday night (13 November) where around 140 people were reported to have been killed.

French title l'equipe bears a striking black front cover and the headline; l'horreur as it explores the second major terrorist attack in Paris this year. Meanwhile, Figaro and Liberation both splash with images of carnage and confusion on the front.

Similar images portray the events that took place across Paris on the front pages of most of the British national titles such as the Daily Mirror, the Independent, the Sun, i and the Telegraph.

With the attacks beginning in the late evening when most newspapers will be ready to go to press, some titles such as the Guardian initially splashed with the killing of 'Jihadi John' in Syria before updating to include early coverage of the events.

Twitter was also a focal point for Parisians to send photos in a desperate search to locate loved ones mixed up in the chaos.

Almost immediately and through out the evening social media messages were communicated around Europe in support of the people in Paris, however reports that social media platforms were also being used to praise the atrocities also came out not long after news broke of the attacks.

At the time of writing it was understood that seven terrorists had taken their own lives after carrying out the attacks which included explosions during the late stages of the France V Germany friendly match at the Stade Du France.
