Target lambasted over ‘insensitive’ OCD Christmas jumper
Bad taste Christmas jumpers have become an ironic seasonal staple in recent years however Target has found such approaches have limits after receiving a social media roasting after advertising an ‘OCD: Obsessive Christmas Disorder’ jumper for sale at $22.40.
Target became a literal focus of criticism with many accusing the retailer of insensitivity in its handling of a serious mental illness which currently afflicts 2.2m Americans, leaving them overcome with anxiety when dealing with compulsive behaviour.
Disappointed in @Target. I have #OCD, and this perpetuates misinfo about mental illness affecting 1% of population. pic.twitter.com/pDcER0WSH1

With the bright red sweater leaving red faces all-round the firm is being urged to discontinue the range but has thus far refused to remove it from stores.
Similar jumpers are being sold by Zazzle, CafePress.com and Etsy.
