AOL UK, BBC Sport & Found Remote: Judges begin to line up for Online Media Awards for 2016

AOL UK’s managing director Hamish Nicklin, development senior broadcast jounalist at the BBC Sport Online Iain Hepburn and The Drum’s very own executive editor for Found Remote Adam Flomenbaum are the first names set to judge the Online Media Awards for 2016.

Now in its sixth year, the awards, which are sponsored by iomart, are now open for entries with plaudits such as ‘online editor of the year’, ‘breaking news story of the year’ and ‘online editorial campaign of the year’ up for grabs. Each one is designed to recognise the quality behind the best and brightest online/digital teams at the best publishers in the world regardless of size.

New to 2016, is the “most effective media tool” gong, which will award the standout media tool for editorial teams and journalists over the last year. The world of platforms and CMS’ is constantly shifting and the award will champion the asset that has become an integral part of the way content is sourced and produced, whether that be a new start-up app or an updated version of an established system.

“I'm thrilled to be judging this years Drum Online Media Awards because I'm really excited to see how our awesome digital industry is fusing the best of what's possible with culture and creativity with ad tech and code to solve big client problems,” said Nicklin.

While, Hepburn talked up the award’s celebrations of innovation in journalism. "A lot of media organisations talk a good game about innovation and pioneering new forms of journalism and storytelling online,” he continued. "I'm very much looking forward to properly exploring the best of these and see the full scope of creative ideas in these awards."
