24/7 Wall St. has created a map from Google Trends data that shows which brands are searched the most by state.

The most popular brand in a state is not the most searched brand but is actually the brand with the most searches relative to other states, 24/7 Wall St. noted.

The research found that people are far more likely to search for McDonald’s in Illinois than in North Carolina and that California residents are much more interested in Sony that Nokia.

There are a few reasons that explain why some brands are more popular than others in each state. For example, ESPN’s popularity in Ohio could be attributed to the state’s large number of sports teams and Ford’s high search number in Michigan might be due to the fact that it is headquartered in Detroit, the article stated.
