Protestors look to cancel Donald Trump’s upcoming ‘Saturday Night Live’ appearance
Presidential hopeful Donald Trump’s imminent appearance on late night TV show ‘Saturday Night Live’ has sparked protests from Latino protestors.
The League of United Latin American Citizens mustered around 30 protestors at NBC HQ in the Rockefeller Center on Wednesday evening. They gathered to demand that Trump be dropped from the show due to his controversial views on Latino immigrants.
The New York Times reports that protestors chanted “SNL stop the hate”, “Dump Trump” and “Fight Back” to the property mogul’s 7 November appearance on the comedy show.
The movement gained momentum following Congressman for Illinois, Luis Gutiérrez, sending a letter of complaint to Comcast chairman last month.
He claimed that the show represented a “level of endorsement that says to America that every hateful and racist thing Donald Trump has said is since the moment he launched his campaign is acceptable and no big deal.”
Trump was recently parodied in one of the shows skits, check it out below.
