Tunepics, the music and picture sharing app, is celebrating Halloween with the release of themed stickers and filters after racking up its five millionth user and a $2m investment.

This allows users to scare their friends with 1m spooky images alongside hit tunes such as Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ and the Ghostbusters theme.

Dubbed a ‘social music discovery platform’ the British app has benefited from stellar growth in Taiwan, Japan, Brazil and Portugal where it has toppled Facebook and Snapchat to be the number one most downloaded Apple app store app at times.

Justin Cooke, founder & CEO of Tunepics, said: “Music is the most powerful subject in the world, we’ve created a new place for people to share and discover music while adding that extra layer of emotion. We’ve supported some huge musicians like Will.i.am, Little Mix and drove thousands of downloads of Adele’s new single “Hello.” We believe we can be the number one player in the Music/Social space. We are in over 150 countries which is a very strong starting point. It’s great to have investors with experience who can help take us to the next level.”

Tunepics invites users to purchase or stream new music via quirky 30 second visual previews through collaborations with Spotify, @MTV and @NME.

An aggressive expansion drive will see Tunepics introduce an Android app in December.
