Apple shifts record 48m iPhones over fourth quarter
Apple has chalked up a record 48m iPhone sales over the fourth quarter, its highest ever sales volume for the period although somewhat below analysts’ expectations.
Over the three months to September revenue rose 22 per cent versus the same period a year earlier to hit £33.6bn as a result, making 2015 the technology giants most successful ever year.
In a statement Apple said: “The growth was fuelled by record fourth quarter sales of iPhone, the expanded availability of Apple Watch, and all-time records for Mac sales and revenue from services.”
Apple’s success is being driven by China where sales came close to doubling from a year earlier after reaching $12.52bn – although this was slightly below the $13.2bn in sales recorded over the previous quarter.
Over the current quarter Apple calculates that it will generate global sales of up to $77.5bn.
