In a survey of 3,000 Cineworld Unlimited customers, 80-year-old Dench, who starred as M, was selected by over a quarter (26 per cent) of respondents as the actress they’d most like to see back on screen.

Current 007, Daniel Craig, was voted the most popular Bond ever with over half of the votes; Sean Connery came second with 23 per cent of votes and Craig’s predecessor Pierce Brosnan placed third with 18 per cent.

One-hit wonder George Lazenby unsurprisingly came last with just one per cent of the vote. In terms of Bond villains, classic silent henchman Jaws narrowly defeated Bond’s Skyfall nemesis Raoul Silva receiving 16 and 15 per cent of votes respectively.

British film critic and Cineworld Unlimited Card ambassador, James King, said it was “quite a surprise” to see Dench top the list of Bond girls, adding: “It just goes to show what a national treasure she is.”

According to Cineworld Unlimted Card holders, Spectre is the film cinemagoers are most excited to see over the coming months polling ahead of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (77 per cent to 66 per cent respectively).

Cineworld Unlimited cards offer unlimited films from £16.90 a month, as well 10 per cent off snacks and drinks, and exclusive preview screenings of upcoming film releases.
