A London coffee house has landed itself in hot water after rebranding from the innocuous ‘Bermondsey Street Coffee’ to the rather more eye-catching ‘Fuckoffee’.

Despite the ‘offensive’ sign having been up for more than a year, managers have been served a legal writ by their landlord demanding that the ‘offensive’ name be removed immediately under threat of further court proceedings.

A legal notice issued by the landlords lawyers and tweeted by the proprietor read: “We are instructed that you have either erected or allowed your sub-tenant to erect an offensive sign on the exterior of the building […] without the permission or authority of our client and this constitutes a trespass."

It followed a number of complaints from passersby who alerted police to the foul-mouthed rebranding although they decided that there was no case to answer.
