The Drum launches Everything You Need to Know video series

The Drum has launched Everything You Need to Know, a series designed to give marketers all the essential information they need about the hottest industry topics in an easy to digest under-three-minute video.

Technology has made advertising more effective than it’s ever been. However, the breakneck speed of the industry means marketers need to be on top of a dizzying array of subjects.

The problem is that we just don’t have time to keep on top of it all. Agency execs and brand marketers are desperate to understand the latest technologies, techniques and thinking in the market. But they don’t all have time to download and digest endless white papers, read reports or even to pour over every word of industry bible The Drum.

So The Drum wants to offer people a way to find out everything they need to know about each crucial subject in one short film, something they can watch in the back of a taxi on the way to their next crucial meeting on the subject.

That’s why each episode is filmed in the back of a London black cab.

Everything You Need to Know – About Programmatic, in association with Trade Desk

The launch series, Everything You Need to Know – About Programmatic, in association with Trade Desk, is an introductory guide to the six key areas of programmatic advertising. Each episode will launch every two weeks and be accompanied by an article digging further into the subject, in The Drum magazine and website.

Everything You Need to Know is not designed to be the last definitive word on each subject. Instead, each film is intended to provide the essential information needed to fully understand each area.

“We hope this series will an invaluable primer for agencies and marketers on one of the most exciting revolutions to hit advertising,” said The Trade Desk GM UK James Patterson. “You really will be able to pick up everything you need to know to become knowledgeable in this sector by spending under four minutes each week watching an episode.”

The first episode, The Power of Programmatic, is a comprehensive introductory guide to a form of advertising that is set to be worth over £1bn in 2015 according to the IAB.

Future episodes will cover subjects such as video advertising, private market places and optimisation.

“There is such a huge thirst for knowledge in our industry but less and less time for people to learn everything they need to know,” said Justin Pearse, head of The Drum’s branded content arm Drum Works. “With our new series, all you need to do is give us a few minutes of your time on your next cab journey and you’ll arrive at the other end better educated, informed and inspired.”
