Honda’s new two-minute ad ‘Paper’ doesn’t promote its latest model or show off fancy gadgets and innovations. Instead, it takes viewers back to Honda’s roots and shows them how the automobile maker has evolved since its inception.

Under the umbrella of the brand’s ‘The Power of Dreams’ tagline, the ad positions Honda as an innovative company. All of the vehicles featured in the spot are drawn on or made out of paper, or “the medium where many dreams begin.”

The ad was shot by stop-motion artist and Academy Award-nominated PES, who used thousands of hand-drawn illustrations to tell the story of Honda’s history.

While the commercial starts with sepia-like paper, it ends with modern graph paper.

Created by RPA, ‘Paper’ debuted during CBS Sunday NFL this past weekend.
