Samsung and ITV to share Rugby World Cup moments as part of Twitter's Amplify scheme
Samsung has tied the knot with ITV to show near-live Rugby World Cup video clips on Twitter during this year's tournament.
As part of the Amplify programme which feeds users sponsored real-time tweets from prominent events, ITV, the first UK broadcaster to embrace the medium, will share major moments from the Rugby World Cup.
Twitter Amplify, which launched two years ago, now boasts over 150 Twitter Amplify partners globally, connecting sponsored clips with audiences that are likely to engage.
Stephen Poole, ITV's multi-platform sales controller, said: “It is fantastic news that we have evolved our Amplify relationship with Twitter and have partnered with World Rugby and Samsung to bring fans and a new audience all the trys, hits, misses and kicks as near to real time as possible from all the Rugby World Cup Games."
Russell Taylor, chief marketing officer of Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland, said: "We are excited by the continued involvement with Twitter Amplify.
“We take pride in bringing fans closer to their passions and creating unforgettable experiences through technology. Fans will have access as the game unfolds, be that at Twickenham Stadium, on a tablet while watching the match at home, or anywhere on their mobile device."
Earlier in the summer Stella Artois and Wimbledon partnered in the Amplify programme to bring social media users the tennis highlights.
