Digital Cinema Media (DCM) has appointed David Hipkiss to the newly created role of commercial and trading director.

Hipkiss will take responsibility for driving and delivering the trading strategy for DCM, as the company continues to expand the commercial arm of its business. He will report to chief executive Karen Stacey.

He brings with him an in-depth knowledge of the industry across both the agency and media owner sides, having held senior positions at ITV, WCRS, Vizeum and most recently Bauer Media, where he was commercial director.

Stacey said she was "delighted" to announce Hipkiss' appointment.

"As we continue to innovate and further cement cinema’s role in the media mix, his wealth of experience, impressive little black book of contacts and sharp strategic thinking will only help transport DCM to the next level," she said.

Hipkiss added: “I am hugely excited to be joining such a well-respected business at a time of change in the industry – where AV opportunities are proliferating and the cinema industry is growing so strongly.

"I see huge potential going forward for DCM to develop innovative ways of working with agencies to drive growth.”

The hire follows the firm's investment in its commercial team with four new recruits across its innovations, sales and client departments last month.
