The UK market for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) services has become “sluggish” and “outdated”, according to Nik Gohil, co-founder of London SEO agency NKG Media, with old-fashioned practices actively holding back a wider understanding of SEO and its place within modern marketing.

NKG Media founders Nik Gohil and RJ Bathia.

Speaking to The Drum, Gohil said: “The traditional approach to SEO, while effective in its prime, has become less and less relevant to the point of becoming outdated. Many media agencies charge their clients a fee for a fixed number of SEO hours each month. Those clients need to know that the very nature of SEO means a static model isn’t efficient and won’t achieve the best potential return on their investment. Our results-based approach turns this idea on its head.”

NKG co-founder RJ Bathia was also critical about the low level of innovation within the SEO industry, saying: “The traditional agency environment has become much too comfortable at a time when clients are requiring more fresh thinking than ever before. It’s never been more important for companies and brands to realise the true value of having Search at the heart of their media plans. We developed the Search Taxonomy to showcase how search intent can inform other digital channels for truly integrated campaigns.”

Based in London, NKG Media works directly with brands and agencies as a search specialist.
