Audi’s marketing will be more weighted toward social after We Are Social hire

Audi is to upweight the role of social media in its marketing campaigns in the UK after appointing We Are Social as its social media agency in the UK.

We Are Social will develop custom campaigns for the German car manufacturer’s new models and ensure that they work cohesively across its multiple social media channels. The move illustrates Audi’s aspirations to increasingly reach its target audience across social media which is in line with many other brands in the car manufacturing industry.

Nick Ratcliffe, head of marketing for Audi UK, said he was “impressed” with We Are Social’s thinking and creativity and believed the partnership would enable Audi to develop its marketing approach at a time when social media advertising was accelerating.

Managing director of We Are Social, Jim Coleman, said the agency was looking forward to working on Audi’s “big aspirations for evolving its approach to marketing” through building on the previous work by BBH and creating standalone creative campaigns in social and digital.

BBH will remain a communications partner to Audi in the UK however the We Are Social appointment signifies a greater emphasis on social media for the car company in a time where advertising on Twitter has increased by 74 per cent in less than a year.
