Mothercare has updated its iPhone, iPad and Android apps to incorporate digital receipts for the first time, allowing customers to keep track of in-store purchases at a glance.

Implemented by mobile commerce firm NN4M the system stores custom designed receipts alongside product images and details within the app with additional functionality including the ability to send eGift receipts to friends and family.

Further advantages of the system include giving shop assistants the ability to scan customer email addresses rather than manually enter them as well as several behind the scenes changes designed to streamline the customer experience.

Chris Bertin, Mothercare’s group mobile commerce manager, commented: “Bridging the gap between online and in store is a huge focus for us as a business and we see mobile as playing a major part in this.”

App users will also benefit from a baby namer, kick/contraction counters, a pregnancy week-by-week guide, a collection of lullabies, baby tunes and essentials lists.
