Mashable has claimed its biggest traffic month in August with 45 million unique visitors.

The online news site has cited data from Adobe Marketing Suite, with around half from the US and the UK making up 14 per cent (6.4 million unique users.)

A spokesperson for the site told The Drum that no one story had seen a spike in traffic to equate to the record figures, despite the usual lull expected as a result of the holiday season impacting online audiences routinely.

The spokesperson added: "We're very excited to see the continued growth of our community, as more and more people from around the globe turn to Mashable to understand how digital and tech are changing the world around them, and look to Mashable to inform, inspire and entertain their daily lives."

It was revealed that the site's most popular stories were: 'What style means to a transgender girl, with Jazz Jennings,' 'Surplus vehicle boneyards,' and 'PSA: Help These Dogs Get Internet Famous,' with video content proving particularly popular it was said.
