SSE and Nordoff Robbins Scotland have announced a new partnership, joining forces to raise the profile of Scotland’s only music therapy charity.

The SSE Scottish Music Awards take place on 28th November.

Through the partnership SSE will actively support the growth of Nordoff Robbins Scotland services through a combination of direct investment and a series of staff fundraising initiatives. This support from SSE will make music therapy more accessible to hundreds more children and adults across Scotland.

Music therapy is grounded in the belief that everyone can respond to music, no matter how ill or disabled and can help people express emotions and communicate with others, improving the quality of life and wellbeing for people living with a diverse range of health conditions.

SSE, the title sponsor of The SSE Hydro, is also very proud to continue its support of live music in Scotland by becoming the title sponsor of the Scottish Music Awards, the annual star studded event that celebrates Scotland’s rich and diverse musical talent and raises money for Nordoff Robbins Scotland.

The newly titled SSE Scottish Music Awards will take place on 28th November in the Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow.

Colin Banks, acting head of sponsorship for SSE, said: “All of us at SSE are delighted to be working in collaboration with the fantastic charity, Nordoff Robbins Scotland. They make such a meaningful difference to so many adults and children across Scotland, and with people increasingly recognising how music therapy can change lives we are incredibly proud to be able to support the growth of this invaluable service.”

Donald MacLeod, chairman of Nordoff Robbins Scotland, said: “With the support of SSE we can continue to grow the charity and provide music therapy, which is so vital, to more and more children and adults across Scotland. We always push ourselves so we can continue expanding our facilities across Scotland and every year it costs over £500,000 to provide music therapy to over 400 children and adults. This partnership is an ideal way to encourage donations from Scotland and beyond!”

SSE also sponsors the next generation of athletes from GB and Ireland through the SSE Next Generation athlete programme and is the title sponsor of The SSE Women’s FA Cup, The SSE Hydro in Glasgow and The SSE Arena, Wembley.
