Uber's global bookings are expected to reach $10.84bn this year, a figure that is three times higher compared to 2014.

According to an investors’ presentation seen by Reuters that figure will rise further to $26.1bn next year.

The ride-sharing app, which operates in over 50 countries, keeps 20 per cent of booking revenue, according to the slideshow and based on those figures, revenue for 2015 would equate to around $2bn.

Uber was last valued by investors at $50bn, which is the most worldwide for a privately held tech firm.

Bookings reached $2.91bn last year and $687.8m in 2013, the presentation revealed, however it did not mention expenses or indicate if Uber is profitable.

It is understood that the presentation was created for would-be investors in China.

A spokeswoman at Uber's San Francisco headquarters said the company does not comment on "rumour and speculation" when asked about the presentation.
