A Thai broadcaster has apologised for shooting a tasteless recreation of the Bangkok bombing for a news piece.

Nation TV dressed a staff member as the bomber and then sent him to the Erawan Shrine. Adisak Limprungpatanakij, president of Nation Broadcasting Corporation said the move showed a lack of “sensitivity of the public and disrespect for the dead".

He added that disciplinary action could be in line for the team and the news editor who green lit the move. Twitter user @BoyOfHeaven was on the scene and captured footage of the incident (pictured above).

The recreation sparked outrage following the death of 20 people, including one Brit student. Additionally, the concept of dressing as an on-the-run terrorist and returning to the scene of the crime, brought Nation TV heavy criticism.

Bunlert Supachai Praphasri, the at-fault news editor apologised and accepted “liability” for the stunt live on TV (shown below).
