James will report to the digital agency’s joint chief executives Rob Oubridge and Tim Seddon, and lead the firm's output for clients such as Manchester City FC and Lloyd's of London.

Having won a Cannes Lions Gold Award, a Webby and an IAB Creative Showcase Award, he brings with him over 20 years' experience in the industry.

His appointment follows that of Guillaume Buat-Ménard, who returned to Aqueduct as chief technical officer earlier this year following three years at TMW.

Commenting on the recent hires, Oubridge said he believed that James and Buat-Ménard would "deliver outstanding results for clients".

"They have the right mix of skill, experience and ambition to take the the agency forward," he added.

James said that he is "excited by the opportunity and challenge of putting creativity at the very heart of Aqueduct."
