British Vogue's secrets are set to be revealed in a BBC documentary series as part of the fashion title's centenary celebrations.

Two 60-minute episodes will explore Vogue’s role in the fashion world and promise viewers "unprecedented access" behind the scenes of the famous magazine.

Produced by Lightbox and directed by Richard Macer, the series will be shot from fashion shows, location shoots and go behind the scenes with the photographers, models, editors and well-known faces featured in the magazine.

The series will culminate in Vogue's centenary issue, which will be published in 2016.

Simon Chinn, co-founder of Lightbox said: “This is a fantastic and unprecedented opportunity to get to the heart of the UK’s fashion industry and look at its impact globally. There will be big characters, compelling storylines and plenty of glamour, but we also want to explore some important questions about the role fashion plays today in Britain and the world beyond.”

The documentary, scheduled to air in 2016, will be executive produced by Katie Buchanan and has been commissioned by BBC acting head of documentary commissioning Maxine Watson.

It follows the American title's 2009 collaboration with filmmaker R.J. Cutlers who created "The September Issue",a documentary that spotlighted formidable editor Anna Wintour and her complicated working relationship with Grace Coddington, a British creative director.
