The Royal Opera House has created an online film to promote its annual arts festival Deloitte Ignite 15, which features hip-hop dancers and ice skaters delivering a modern take on Romeo and Juliet.

The London-based performance venue worked in collaboration with youth marketing agency Livity and Somewhereto, which finds free event and urban spaces for creative work, to produce the film as it looks to attract new, younger audiences.

The new take on Romeo and Juliet unfolds in well-known spaces around the Royal Opera House including those not normally accessed by the general public. It features spoken word in the auditorium stalls, Romeo and Juliet roller-skating around the floral hall and the Amphitheatre bar transformed into Juliet’s Balcony.

The film is narrated by spoken word artist Samuel King, with dance performances by Avant Garde Dance Company.

Deloitte Ignite 15 runs throughout September 2015 and includes a range of free events including performances and workshops.
