The most powerful man in the world has made his music streaming service of choice known after The White House released President Obama’s summer playlist.

In a move that is reminiscent of the tradition whereby The White House releases the president’s summer reading list, the commander in chief’s favourite bands and artists have been unveiled for all to see and judge.

Obama took to Twitter ahead of his summer vacation to Martha's Vineyard to give his followers an insight into the song’s he’ll be relaxing to. The tweet link’s to Spotify allowing users to see two playlists he has created, one daytime playlist and one evening playlist

Some of the artists that the president will be listening to during the day include Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Rolling Stones and Aretha Franklin. His evening playlist has songs from artists such as Beyoncé, Mos Def, Mary J Blige, Otis Redding and Miles Davis.

It is indicative of the brave new digital age which Obama has embraced in an attempt to make himself appear more relatable to his electorate. One such instance was a tweet to his wife wishing her a Happy Valentine’s Day and referring to her as Bo. Another example is his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s show to take part in the ‘Mean Tweets ’ section where celebrities read aloud insulting tweets directed at them from the public.

Obama's choice of Spotify over Apple Music is likely because he continues to use a Blackberry rather than an iPhone but the use of the service is an endorsement of sorts for the music streaming service which is trying to hold-off Apple Music.
