Fox Sports will show off its five year acquisition of the US rights to the German Bundesliga by streaming the kick-off fixture for free on YouTube.

In a first from the broadcaster, the 14 August fixture between Bayern Munich and Hamburger SV will be streamed at 7pm GMT on the Fox Soccer YouTube channel for free.

YouTube’s head of North America sports partnerships Tim Katz is quoted by Variety as saying: “We’re über-excited to bring Bundesliga matches to US soccer fans on YouTube for the first time ever."

Fox will broadcast a full 308 matches with subscribers able to log in all season long through an app, the Fox website or YouTube.

The broadcaster looks to conquer the US with the high-quality offering from the Bundesliga after the sport captured the imagination of the nation with the record-breaking 13.3m Women’s World Cup Final on ABC.

Of course, Fox’s investment in the competition also paid dividends with ad sales up 400 per cent on 2011’s tournament.
