Star Trek actor William Shatner lead a touching social media tribute for the departed Leonard Nimoy who played the wise Vulcan Spock on the show.

Shatner, who played captian Kirk in the original series of Star Trek asked fans of the show to share a selfie featuring Spock’s ‘live long and prosper’ sign. The movement enjoyed high reach and engagement using with the #LLAP hashtag.

The mosaic was composed of over 6,000 fan-submitted selfies, with Shatner submitting the entry to Guinness Book of Records for consideration.

Conducted on behalf of social media scavenger hunt website GISHWHES, thousands of fans pitched in.

Shatner several days later unveiled the fruit of fans work. A selfie mosaic of Spock.

Last week Shatner requested Justin Bieber to follow him on Twitter to help arrange the scheme. He was later enraged by Mashable dubbing him a ‘teenage girl’ for requesting a follow from the Biebs.
