The Internet Advertising Bureau has recruited comedian, actor and TV personality Jack Whitehall to close its annual Engage conference on 15 October at London’s Barbican.

Higher Ground will see the comedian convene a fireside chat with IAB chairman, Richard Eyre, who will be joined on stage by James McClure, Airbnb; Kathy Savitt, Yahoo; Leo Johnson, PwC; Nicholas Lovell, Author; Dr Paul Marsden, Psychologist and Scott Ferber, Videology.

Outlining the theme of the event the IAB stated: “It’s time to raise our game. Today’s consumers have never enjoyed greater convenience and choice. They are tech-savvy and entitled; no longer satisfied by remote brands with carefully crafted personas, now preferring to engage with brands with a higher purpose than the next sale.

“To succeed in this more interesting but more challenging game, we must use data wisely – beyond just scoring hits - to win attention and build customer relationships in a sustainable way. It’s time to reach for the higher ground.”

Whitehall is well known to comedy fans for his role in shows such as Fresh Meat, A League of Their Own and Bad Education, the latter of which is to be subject to a cinematic remake this August.
