The birds are back angrier than ever for the launch of the sequel to Rovio’s bird-brained mobile smash Angry Birds, due for a worldwide launch soon.

Angry Birds 2 features a nest-full of all new feathered creations with a battery of all-new missiles, beaks and spells ready to be fired at a world of tottering towers populated by precarious pics.

The slingshot format remains true to the mechanics of the original hit whilst being spruced up with slick new visuals and gameplay tweaks, such as a Destruct-O-Meter, an aviary worth of new birds and explosive spells such as blizzards, magic ducks and hot chilli.

Rovio co-founder Niklas Hed: “Design technology has evolved dramatically since the original game launched in 2009. With Angry Birds 2 we wanted to bring a level of expressive depth and detail seen previously only in a console game or animated series – and create a new game that kids and adults alike won’t be able to put down.”

Taking centre stage in the revamp is Silver, a young bird rescued from porcine captivity by series stars Red, Chuck and Bomb.
