Bloomberg hires Haymarket’s Arif Durrani as commercial editor

Bloomberg Media has hired Haymarket’s Arif Durrani as commercial editor for its Europe, Middle East and Africa regions to ramp up its branded content efforts.

He joins the publisher’s commercial team and is tasked with commissioning branded content across its full roster of titles such as the recently launched European edition of Bloomberg Business. Durrani reports to head of solutions Penny Bartram, who joined the business in April.

Matt Teeman, commercial director at Bloomberg Media, EMEA, said his arrival at the business was key. “His appointment is a further demonstration of our commitment to produce the very best commercial work for clients, expanding our commercial solutions offering and building on the outstanding work done by the team so far this year, especially around the launch of Bloomberg Business Europe,” he added.

Durani joins from Campaign publisher Haymarket where he was as head of media for the agency-focused title as wel as the editor of MediaWeek.He is said to have played a pivotal role in steering Haymarket’s jump from a print business to a multi-platform one, during seven years that also saw him also serve as group news editor of titles Marketing and Campaign, as well as editor of Brand Republic.

Prior to, Durrani was at Centaur, where he was news editor at Mad.co.uk and was also commissioning feature friter at Emap’s M&M Global.
