The newest dating app on the block is seeking to differentiate itself from competitors by pairing up lonely travellers for holiday excursions whilst still at the planning stage.

Miss Travel

Existing dating apps such as Tinder and Plenty of Fish already allow would be Romeo & Juliets to track each other down using GPS, but Miss Travel aims to go one step further by allowing those daring enough to organise and book a holiday with a total stranger.

Men must stump up a membership fee to join but women can sign up for nothing, suggesting where the bulk of demand lies, after which users can create trip requests for others to respond to.

This can range from seeking a travel partner, someone to show you round a specific place or even find someone willing to travel to your own home town for a meet-up. To avoid any unseemly squabbling over bills the app also invites holiday partners to specify whether they’d be willing to pay for their partner, split things down the middle, or cheekily ask your partner to pay for everything.

To avoid jetting off for a remote cabin break for two with an axe murderer, the site does offer its own background checks on members to identify any criminal offences but ultimately it warns users they will need common sense and gut instinct to use the platform safely.

Brandon Wade, founder and CEO of MissTravel, commented: “When we travel, we leave nothing to chance, making sure our transportation and accommodation are planned to a tee. So why leave your date up to serendipity? MissTravel is the travel agent of love, connecting people who believe travel is a richer experience when shared and want to find romance along their journey. With MissTravel you never have to travel alone again.”

Miss Travel first originated in America in 2012 and the new app is now available on Apple and Google’s app stores.
