Sky Sports launched a targeted TV ad campaign at the weekend, welcoming Bournemouth, Norwich and Watford fans to the Premier League.

In May, the clubs were promoted to the Premier League.

To engage all three ahead of the start of the season next month, Sky Sports used Sky AdSmart – a tool which can target TV viewers by postcode – to reach people who live in the postcode regions of BH, NR and WD with a special ‘Welcome to the Premier League’ TV ad.

The activity formed part of a wider ‘Start of Season’ campaign from the sports broadcaster.

Nikhil Shah, media manager for sales and marketing at Sky, explained: “With the much-anticipated new Premier League season kicking off next month we thought it was the perfect time to engage with fans of the promoted clubs on a more personal level. Like us, they can’t wait to get the new season under way.”

Sky Media said it is seeing an increasing number of advertisers using the technology to tailor creative to specific audiences. In just over a year, it claims AdSmart has delivered over 2000 campaigns from nearly 500 advertisers, with around 70 per cent of the advertisers who use Sky AdSmart either new to TV or Sky.
