As networks have learned the past few years: put an awards show on TV and it will be reacted to on Twitter.

Looking at the social TV week that was with insights from Canvs, the Alternative Press Music Awards inspired 124,393 reactions on Twitter – or, 5 per cent of total reactions on the platform.

Turning to Sharknado 3, only 3 per cent of Twitter users expressed disappointment in the episode – pretty impressive seeing as each successive film continues to “jump the new shark” in more flagrant ways.

Below, additional insights from Canvs for the week of July 19 followed by an infographic:

· The biggest Twitter moment at the 2015 Alternative Press Music Awards occurred between 9:20 and 9:25PM when 5 Seconds of Summer won the Best Fandom award.

· Winner of the 2015 British Open, Zach Johnson, earned 17,237 reactions with over 50 per cent saying congrats.

· Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! inspired 12,863 Tweets in the three hours before it aired. Fifty percent of those expressed excitement.
