World champion boxer Carl Froch has announced his retirement from the sport in order to join the Sky Sports team, drawing a successful career to a close in which he won the WBC title twice in addition to the WBA and IBF belts at super middleweight.

This will see Froch back on the box as an expert commentator for Sky’s coverage of up to 120 fights over the next six years

Froch commented: "I’m incredibly proud of what I have achieved in boxing but now is the right moment to hang up my gloves. I have nothing left to prove and my legacy speaks for itself.

“I can’t wait to join the team and help bring fans the best fighters, the best contests and the best analysis. Nothing can replace the thrill of stepping into the ring, but with Sky Sports I’ll be doing the next best thing.”

Sky styles itself as the home of boxing and recently extended its partnership with Matchroom Sport until 2021 to extend its live coverage.
