Facebook has introduced a new tool called See First which guarantees that all posts from particular accounts will appear at the top of the news feed ensuring that they will not be drowned out by other posts.

The introduction of See First will mean, if a user adds a page to their See First list, every post from that account will be prioritised in the new feed and will have a blue star at the top to signify its inclusion in the list.

The feature essentially allows users to tailor their feeds to very specific purposes as opposed to a stream of everyone they have friended or followed. Users can transform the top of their news feed into a news reader, sports site or shopping platform depending on the pages they include in the feature.

The changes could prove invaluable for business who manage to convince users to add them to their See First list as it would mean that every post, including overt marketing or sales messages that Facebook tends to hide, will reach their customers. For years business have been buying likes in an attempt to reach people over the news feed however the method has become jaded and less effective, prompting Facebook to develop new tools for business to reach customers and ensure the platform is a priority with them.

The company has been focusing on ways to improve the news feed by allowing users to personalise it such as the feature introduced last year which gives the option to see less posts from a specific user.

The See First list is currently only available in the US on iOS now, with Android and desktop receiving the update later this month.
