The National Trust has released a mobile app for visitors as part of the charity's ongoing member retention strategy.

The first activity to launch since National Trust appointed DigitasLBi as its digital agency partner last year, the app aims to show members that there is always more to discover across its sites.

The app will help visitors plan their trips with location and preference filtering, and a range of content will demonstrate the breadth of places to choose from.

Visitors are also able to search for both outdoor places and properties, including events taking place by location and date. The app provides key visitor information (such as prices, directions, opening times, facilities and maps) and enables easy sharing on social media.

Tom Barker, head of digital at The National Trust, said of the new app: “National Trust places offer an incredibly diverse range of experiences. We’re delighted to be launching this new app, which helps our visitors make the most of their time with us whenever they visit, whether it’s for the first time or the fiftieth time.”

The app will also utilise geofencing to welcome users to National Trust places as they arrive, prompting them to switch to a ‘visit’ mode to help them make the most of their day.
